For one of our clients, a European institution located in Luxembourg Kirchberg, Sofitex Talent is currently looking for a

(Senior) Financial and Data Analyst (M/F)

The Strategy Department within the Finance and Strategy Office (“FSO”) is responsible for shaping the institution’s strategic direction over the medium to long-term. It supports the Executive and Senior Management by defining strategic priorities, evaluating alignment with the Group’s objectives, and advising on key operational initiatives.

Within this framework, the Financial Strategy (“FS”) unit plays a key role in defining the financial strategy to ensure long-term financial sustainability, optimise the use of resources, and maximise market impact. Its main responsibilities include:

(i)            Designing and maintaining the institution’s Financial Sustainability Policy;

(ii)           Defining and calibrating long-term key financial indicators and financial sustainability metrics;

(iii)          Monitoring strategic goals achievement through a Strategic Target System;

(iv)          Developing financial models and performing scenario analysis;

(v)           Contributing to strategic projects with a funding, pricing or corporate impact perspectives;

(vi)          Continuously assessing and adjusting actions to keep the institution on track towards long-term goals.

Complementing this, the Analytical Center of Expertise (“ACE”) unit fosters data science capabilities within the FSO and promotes a data-driven culture across the function. It provides:

i)             Data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making;

ii)            Analytical input for the Strategy Department and broader initiatives;

iii)           Collaboration across departments to integrate data expertise;

iv)           Ongoing enhancement of analytical tools and frameworks.

The selected candidate will contribute to the FS and ACE missions by supporting strategy formulation and monitoring, financial and data analysis, project coordination, and the implementation of digital and analytical solutions across the division.

Operating Network:

The selected candidate will report to the Head of the Financial Strategy Unit, under the overall guidance of the Head of the Financial Strategy & Analytics (“FSA”) Division and will work closely with senior colleagues from both FS and ACE units.

Responsibilities:

At a level commensurate with seniority, responsibilities will include:

•             Developing and maintaining the Strategic Target System (“STS”) scorecard, including KPIs definition, calibration, and data automation;

•             Running the STS on a quarterly basis: from data collection and quality control to output production and analysis;

•             Drafting analytical reports and updates for senior management and the Board of Directors as well as strategy papers;

•             Participate to the development of dynamic financial datasets (including balance sheets and other statements);

•             Conducting financial trend analysis, scenario modelling, and forecasting using the dynamic financial datasets once developed;

•             Coordinating with other services to ensure strategic alignment and effective implementation of financial initiatives;

•             Leading and supporting tasks related to the team’s procedures and processes;

•             Acting as an internal expert in data science and analytics, contributing to the development of tools, models, and advanced analysis for strategic purposes;

•             Promoting a strong analytical culture within the FSO, ensuring proper assistance on data analytics matters, and providing guidance on the independent use of models and analytical tools developed by the team.

•             Enhancing analytical capabilities through innovative methods and advanced data tools;

•             Participating in cross-functional and cross-departmental projects, offering both strategic and data-driven perspectives.

Profil recherché

Qualifications:

•             University degree, preferably at postgraduate level, in Finance, Accounting, Strategy, STEM or a related field;

•             Additional certifications or a PhD would be considered an asset;

•             At least three years of relevant professional experience in data/business analytics, financial modelling or corporate strategy, ideally within the finance sector;

•             Proven experience in querying, analysing, and visualising large datasets using tools such as Python, R, SQL, SAS or Alteryx, and visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI);

•             Proficiency with Excel is required (VBA is an asset);

•             Experience in strategic dashboarding is a distinctive advantage;

•             Skills in quantitative modelling, projections and financial analysis methodologies as well as notions in accounting are an asset;

•             Understanding of statistical techniques (e.g., Regression, A/B Testing, Causal Inference) and their application in business contexts is considered a strong asset;

•             Experience in project management is advantageous;

•             Strong written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English. Knowledge of other EU languages is an asset;

This is a great opportunity to start asap on a 2-month contract + several extensions.

Salary: depending on profiles (beetween 4600 and 6500€ gross)
